Vickie and Family {Dallas Family Photographer}

You might recognize part of this family from maternity and newborn sessions a few months back.  I can't believe Jacob is 5 and Noah is almost 8 months! It has been so fun watching them grow!  Their grandmother wanted some new family photos and I needed an excuse to hang out with this awesome family!  I couldn't have asked for better shooting conditions.  The weather was perfect; the kids were perfect.  How sweet are these little boys!?

Inspiration Outside

Sometimes it's hard to find subject matter when you want to try out new gear or techniques, or even if you just feel like you're in a rut.  For now I don't have kids or pups to fill my frames... so I head outside.  Here are some photos I took from a recent trip to the Dallas Arboretum.  The Arboretum is always beautiful, but especially at the onset of spring.  I find such inspiration there.

I encourage you to get outside and get behind your lens.  You are sure to find places that inspire you.  Let me know what you discover.

I'm Back...

My apologies for the hiatus!  Things have been crazy over here.  We've been house hunting and traveling and still booking sessions!  I have several posts lined up over the next few weeks, but I wanted to drop in today to let you know I'm still here and available for sessions this summer.  I'll leave you with some Rangers photos I took last season... because we're going to our first game of the season tonight!   I love living in a baseball town :)

Penultimate

Today I was searching the top free iPad Apps and when I found this one I knew I had to share it with you immediately!  Penultimate is essentially a virtual notebook.  What I love about it is it lets you easily draw on your photos and it's FREE!  Imagine the possibilities for Christmas cards, scrapbooking and blog content!  There are lots of digital drawing tablets available, but it is so nice that this is easily accessible for everyone.

Here are a few photos I quickly put together to show you how it works and hopefully inspire you to customize a few of your own photos.  Let me know how it goes!

P.S. Don't forget about the Valentine's Day Contest!
P.P.S. Have a great weekend!

An Instagram Update

Happy New Year everyone!  My holiday season was hectic, but so wonderful.  Here's an Instagram update to get you caught up on what's been going on!

1.  Mary asked me to be her matron of honor.  I am thrilled, but am trying to get over the title... "matron" sounds so old!
2.  I received lots of cards from clients, totally love having my pictures featured on family Christmas cards.
3.  We saw Santa, I thought it more appropriate that I sit on Dan's lap.
4.  Our house divided nutcrackers.  Fingers crossed that my team can win their bowl game!
5.  I delivered Sprinkles cupcakes as gifts, and somehow forgot to buy one for myself.  Very sad day.
6.  We loaded up all the presents for our marathon of Christmas get-togethers.
7.  Hot chocolate marshmallow face, don't judge the styrofoam.
8.  My husband as a five year old, love that little afro.  I hope we have babies that look just like him (but not anytime soon).
9.  It was a good Christmas for me!  I got lots of photography equipment that I can't wait to try out!
10.  Bloomington received a foot of snow while we were there.  We had so much fun and played for hours.
11.  Testing the traction on my new boots, they'll never see that much snow in Dallas.
12.  Our 6 foot snowman giving a friendly wave. His face is made of dark chocolate truffles, naturally.
